T-51 Mustang Section
Fuel Tank Leak Test
| Prior to finish riveting the wing, the fuel tanks should be checked for leaks. Checking for leaks should be standard practice when building any aircraft, but at least one T-51 builder did not do this. Each tank, with fittings installed, can either be pressure checked with no more than 1/4 lb. of air pressure or simply filled with fuel after installation but prior to permanently closing the center section. If a leak is detected at a fitting, reseal the fitting and perform another leak test. If a leak is detected in a tank, Titan Aircraft will replace the tank. |
